I was expeticng more about this book, since I´ve been trying to read it for a few months. All the dynamic of the death and the ghosts were not really explored and create nothing than an empty world around it. Ok, it doesn´t talk about Charlotte family, but it could explore more what they present. Why is the professor dead? What are the other subjects they have been studying? How is the life of the rest of the ghosts, without being doing what they do when they were dead?

Even Damen and Petula don´t bring anything special to the story. The parts I liked more were that ones where we could see a development of Scarlett and even she was just pointed by her style and music taste. Her relationship with Damen had funny moments, and was the main reason why I kept reading it.

Even so, the sentences in the beginning of each chapter were pretty cool and I liked to read them.

I picked up "It's a Mall World After All" because of the burble I have to admit that reading about a girl that worked in a mall (just like me!) and saw life at the mall like I did sounded like the type of book I would appreciate.

The first chapters of the book were page turners and I laughed like a five year old opening presents during Christmas. The book was everything I hoped for.

Unfortunately somewhere along the way she stopped talking about her thesis with mall based chapter titles and the mall became just a scenario for the Christmas party which sadden me a lot because it made this book like every other one in the chic-lit section.

The whole how to view the shopping experience was truly original and as a mall-worker myself I found it to be hilarious. Even so it was a funny book even if the story line is totally predictable. Like most of chic-lit you just know where the book is heading but the story is well written so you can actually appreciate the style.

Me and sequels (specially the second books have a special relationship). Saying that I mean the characters we learn to love do always the stupidest things ever and change forever the rest of the action, even if they correct them and have place to their happy ending. With this said, I have to tell you I actually could like this one, and feel these habitual senses in The City of Ashes. The world is the same and I love every minute there.

Now, the lowest points: I guess Cassandra Clare doesn´t have the ability to understand her own characters. Because the way the picture them in first book, sometimes create a parallel dimension with the actions done in this second one. I willing to know why in name of Raziel she gave that plot to Simon story, which is totally irrelevant to me. And I liked what Simon was and what in bring to the story: the “normality” and funny moments. Also, Clary doesn´t need another body-guard.

Second, Alec and [SPOILER]? I don’t buy it. I understand why she had to give another thing to develop the character not in Jace´s way, but came on? These two? Nothing in common. At least for now, and I like Alec and think he deserves the best.

Also, Jace´s story and his damaged path was so much heartbreaking and made me suffer until the end with him.

Let´s see what is waiting for my beloved characters in the next book.

I'm gonna miss you Yelena and that's the truth. You were a little stubborn this last book but at least you stayed true to yourself and that has to count for something. I'm really sad this series ended (I know there is the Glass Trilogy but still...) and I'm going to miss all the characters and their adventures. And Valek, I have to admit I have a soft spot for him. Alas, enough is enough and one has to know where and when to stop.

So in my sadness for leaving you all I bid you farewell and wish you all that's good and some kids. Yelena has to have a kid or two, I can only imagine Valek as one of those father who teaches their kids how to defend themselves before they can walk. It would be hilarious.

Opinião:

 Tenho de admitir que foi o facto de me ter apaixonado pela Sophie e pelas suas saídas sarcásticas em Hex Hall que me deu vontade de ler esta sequela. Sim, o primeiro livro acaba num cliffhanger mas eu conseguiria sobreviver imaginando o que aconteceria a seguir. Mas a Sophie cativou-me, as piadas dela são tão sinceras, tão naturais e tão actuais fazem com que seja muito fácil uma pessoa relacionar-se com ela e sentir-se quase sua amiga. Esta foi a razão pela qual continuei a ler.

A minha primeira crítica vai para a capa escolhida para esta sequela. Quem leu Hex Hall sabe que a capa do primeiro livro era em tons claros e tinha um lago onde a personagem se via reflectida, normal e bruxa. No estrangeiro esta capa é continuada ao longo da trilogia (podem ver aqui e aqui), temos sempre a componente do lago e o reflexo. Temos também um gato que ainda não percebi o porquê de lá estar visto Sophie ser alérgica a gatos e nenhum ainda ter aparecido na história, mas isso serão detalhes.

 Devo admitir que o livro começa um bocado parado e estive para desistir algures e dar todo o caso como encerrado até uma personagem em especifico voltar. A Sophie que parecia tão a dormir na sua vida como eu então acorda e começa a ser ela mesma de novo. A Sophie que eu conheço e a Sophie que eu amo! Isto vale por tudo! A partir daí o livro voou e mais uma vez a nossa cara autora deixa-nos com um cliffhanger no exacto instante em que o livro está verdadeiramente interessante! Desta vez no entanto a sequela, Spell Bound saí já dia 13 de Março, em inglês e vai ser uma correria da minha parte para ver se acho o e-book para fechar mais uma trilogia!

Recomendando sem dúvida para quem gosta de fantasia e aprecia uma heroína com sentido de humor!
